Most of the games played by professionals and top amateurs on IGS are stored, and are available for replay while you are connected to IGS. These games can be replayed automatically by using the  request  command, or manually with the  teach  command. The  teach  command can also be used to review any game still currently stored on IGS.

Completed games are saved in Smart Go Format, also known as sgf. There are many programs that can read this format, and some of the client programs, such as the Panda Egg , also have this ability. You can E-mail game records to yourself, or save them to your hard disk with a client, and review them off-line with any program, or client, that understands Smart Go Format.
