This game was played the second time I took part in the NHK Cup. I'm surprised to find that already nine years have passed. Replaying the game after this long gap, I'm impressed with how freely I played. Going from the opening to the middle game, I made attack after attack, and from the middle game on I started playing slackly: the game faithfully reflects my Go style.

During the game, I was unable to count properly, so I didn't know if I was a half point ahead or a half point behind. For that reason, I tried too hard to gain an extra point with move 249, and my opponent easily pulled off something in the bottom right corner. I had to resign. Kanda Sensei had counted properly, which is why he attached with move 248. After the game, I felt keenly the sharpness of a top-flight professional going for a win, and this is still a strong memory.

It's hard to express it well, but in this game I keenly felt the 'contest'.
