This picture represents a scene from Chapter Three of "The Tale of Gengi",
in which Prince Genji spies upon Utsusemi and her sister playing Go. In
this chapter, Prince Genji's view of Utsusemi (the object of his desires)
has been obstructed thus far. Prince Genji secretly enters Utsusemi's
villa, and later, from a hiding place, he makes his way through the villa.
Then, through a small opening in a screen door, he is finally able to get a
clear and unobstructed view of Utsusemi and her sister playing Go, but he
