| This year I will be entering junior high school. I always feel that players who set up large moyos are dan level. I’m bad at moyos; both at playing with them and against them. I’d be happy if this was just an illusion of mine. What do you think? |

Hello, Mr. Nogami. Thank you for you question.

Since you’re still only a freshman in junior high, you’ll improve rapidly. I envy you!

Well, when it comes to moyos, my feeling is that this doesn’t have much to do with go strength. It’s purely a question of go style.

Actually, I myself am not very good at moyos, and my feeling is that I often lose when making moyos and when playing against them. I guess we’re the same.

However, your go career is still quite short, so I think you should try challenging moyos. If you try out various strategies, you will gradually get to understand what moyos are all about.

I hope that you continue to enjoy playing go. |
