question1
Hello, Ms. Kobayashi. I have big ups and downs in my go: in some games I play well and I think I might be strong, but in other games I play awfully and I think I am, after all, weak. My question is: how can one play at a stable level? Can you give me any hints?

answer
Hello, Mr. Tobitaka.
It’s really difficult to play at a stable level. I play stable go at a bad level, so when I occasionally beat a strong player by some miracle, it really makes me happy.

It is most fun to be able to play the kind of game you like and to win, but I believe that this rarely happens. Even if you do have ups and downs, I envy you if are able to play some games that you are satisfied with. We’re only human, so having ups and downs is unavoidable; the important thing is to try to find your own rhythm so that you can build up some momentum.
