question2
Hello, Ms. Chinen. When I review my game records after playing games, I gradually get discouraged from seeing my mistakes. Many of them come from a lack of thinking and so are obvious when I replay the game. I’m fond of go, but this makes me depressed. Can you tell me how to deal with these feelings? Also, do you ever get discouraged yourself?

Consultation Two : Mr. Aiuchi
answer
Hello, Mr. Aiuchi. Thank you for your mail.

I think that reviewing your game records is an excellent way of studying. Like you, I also find lots of mistakes when I review my games. At such times, I ask myself why on earth I played these moves. However, I feel better if I can work out the causes of my mistakes. Why don’t you approach your games optimistically and focus on doing your best to find the best move for each move?

Since I suffer from the same problems as you do, let’s both try to do our best. You should try to develop your own style, make the most of your strong points and keep enjoying go.
